Introduction :
In view of the increasing of service demand in General Out-patient Clinics, digitization is deemed necessary to improve patient journey, maximize the usage of quota, streamline to coordinate with allied health professionals and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness on service provision. HA Wi-Fi is an essential component to apply the digital projects in clinic. However, it has not been installed in General Out-patient Clinic of New Territories East Cluster (GOPC NTEC). In order to getting towards a smart clinic, HA Wi-Fi was installed to support the development of digital health projects in GOPC NTEC.
Objectives :
To apply the digital health projects to facilitate the delivery of efficiency and effectiveness patient care for developing a smart clinic in GOPC NTEC
Methodology :
Wound photo album was selected as the pilot digital technology project in the first smart clinic, Fanling Family Medicine Centre. With getting the support from department seniors, Central Nursing Division and Department of Information Technology, HA Wi-Fi was successfully installed in clinic. Through the Wi-Fi system, wound photo album was implemented in November 2019. Wound photos can be captured and automatically uploaded to Clinical Management System (CMS) that enhanced the reliability and accuracy of would documentation and the communication among healthcare professionals. In the near future, the subsequent projects will focus on digital blood pressure, clinical Apps and payment kiosk.
Result & Outcome :
The wound photo album is the first successful project to conduct in the smart clinic. With the Wi-Fi system, more and more health digital technology projects can be ran in GOPC setting. Moreover, the Hospital Authority mobile application “HA Go” is created for patient’s health empowerment. With which patients can involve in their appointment management, medication record checking and patient empowerment program. In the future, digitization of health care is an ongoing trend to deliver the quality of care. The development of smart clinic is the way to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of primary health care service.
