Introduction :
With the increase in varieties and complexities of clinical trainings in Hospital Authority (HA), for example (i) the incorporation of different teaching modes such as e-course, simulation, face-to-face teaching and clinical attachment over a period of time; (ii) extensive course materials and information; (iii) timeliness interaction between mentors, mentees and training organizers, Hospital Authority Institute of Health Care (HAIHC) adopted a modernized mobile learning management system (LMS) named MOODLE® (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) in administrating of training programme. The system not only enhances the efficiency in administration, monitoring and improving users’ experience but also provides a one-stop mobile solution.
Objectives :
To investigate users’ experience in adopting one-stop LMS in clinical training
Methodology :
A pilot study was conducted on the “Multi-professional Case Management Training Programme for People with Severe Mental Illness” from November 2018 to August 2019. The study engaged over 150 HA staff from community psychiatric service. The course was constructed in MOODLE according to the programme design and requirements, different levels of access were assigned to users (trainees, mentors, supervisors and administrators) according to their roles and functions. A number of short video tutorials were developed and briefing sessions were conducted to engage and address users’ concern. A hotline was established for users to solve technical issues. Upon programme completion, a survey was conducted to collect users’ feedback according to the (1) Convenience of use and (2) Functionalities of the system.
Result & Outcome :
Most of the users downloaded the mobile apps and over 94% expressed that the interface was user-friendly and learning materials was convenient to access. It provided a common platform to enhance inter-collegiate interactions and discussions. The MOODLE not only convey timely notifications, but also facilitate monitoring of learning progress for individual trainee. Administrator could oversee the overall programme status and take immediate measures as necessary. Users treasured the engagement and preparation provided by HAIHC. Seamless integration of enrollment in eLearning Center was recommended and tailor-made modules were suggested to cater for the specific requirements from different programmes design.

The outcome of the pilot studies is encouraging and prior users’ engagement was a key to success. It paves way for integrating and complement with current system in supporting training in HA.
