Objectives :
In 2018, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Program for cystectomy management and High-Risk Surgical Clinic (HRSC) were started in Surgical Department. Occupational Therapy (OT) service was regarded as an integral component in these multidisciplinary programs. High risk patients were referred to Occupational Therapy (OT) department either in day ward or on admission for pre-operation assessment. Occupational therapist can access to those high risk patients early and identify their functional and social profiles, explore their needs and rehabilitation potentials. OT therapeutic program aimed at prevent post-operative complications, improve functional performance, decrease fall risk and caring stress in daily activities.
Methodology :
It was a retrospective study and data was retrieved from CDARS. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the characteristics of the rehabilitation outcomes and the length of stay (LOS).
Result & Outcome :
The goal-directed and individualized OT program can improve the rehabilitation outcomes and facilitate the safe and timely discharge. The basic / instrumental activities of daily living (ADL) training can improve patients’ functional performance. Assistive device / wheelchair prescription, care-giver techniques training, fall prevention training and home modification advice can lower the caring stress and enhance safe community living. please refer to the attached file
