Introduction :
In the era of information technology, we have to keep up with the latest technology in healthcare services for the daily challenges. eAED is an electronic system for clinical documentation in AED. CQMS is a queue system provided by HAIT with instant support. These two systems have been successfully rolled out in POH AED in Oct 2019. It is the first step for paperless AED.
Objectives :
The quality and safety of patient care is enhanced by electronic consultation and documentation. Firstly, it enables healthcare workers of AED and various departments to access the most updated information of patients, which enhances the efficiency of AE procedures, facilitates the immediate deployment of manpower, and shortens patient’s waiting time. Besides, it enhances the data accuracy and reduces the potential misunderstanding caused by handwriting. Lastly, the data interface between the two systems reduces redundant entries and enhance efficiency.
Methodology :
Implementation Pre-set nursing triage templates are not only improved the triage accuracy and efficiency, but also standardize the patient data collected among same complaint during patient triage. Both CQMS and eAED are multi-lingual which make announcement in English, Cantonese and Putonghua. The systems remove redundant steps and the issued ticket which facilitate patient location checking. eAED is allowed auto-alert to doctors upon tests result are available.
Result & Outcome :
After the implementation of eAED and CQMS in Oct 2019, communication between clinical staff is improved. It is an automated system which can simplify clinical procedures and enhance the efficiency of patient care. eAED and CQMS is a milestone of AED to be Smart Hospital in HA that can help to provide high quality and effective health services to AED patients.
