Introduction :
In view of day-to-day operation at wards, lots of signage cards with care information have been widely used at bedside within a very limited space which is given reliance on manual steps for updating. In late 2017, project team under Smart Hospital Program has started to develop the Smart Panel App by application of mobile technology and system interface. Apart from replacement of signage cards, the use of Smart Panel further extends as a multi-functional platform at bedside for accessing patient information via Mobile Clinical Suite by healthcare professionals.
Objectives :
This project aims at developing Smart Panel App for pilot at Hospital Authority (HA) with the application of mobile technology and system interface at clinical environment.
Methodology :
Following the development of Smart Panel App at 1Q2019, seven hospitals have started the trial run on Smart Panel at pilot wards in HA.
Result & Outcome :
As at 4Q2020, 27 wards located at PMH, TSWH, HKCH, PWH, QEH, HHH and OLMH have been conducted the pilot run on Smart Panel App. It not merely can tackle the current clinical need for indicating clear and structured care information of patients at bedside, and also acts as a bedside electronic platform for accessing patient information via Mobile Clinical Suite, e.g. PAF, Patient Album, Radiology Result, Lab Result, etc.. The data transfer via corporate clinical systems (e.g. Corporate Alert System and Patient Assessment Form-Nursing) has streamlined the clinical workflow resulting in data accuracy and time saving. With the synergy effect along with trial on electronic vital signs via e-Vital App, the electronic vital signs chart can be viewed directly at electronic panel display in a convenience way. Eventually, a better clinical outcome and staff experience by application of technology innovation with a win-win strategy can be accomplished.
