Introduction :
High compliance to colorectal ERAS programme (>70%) was shown to improve patient clinical outcome, hospital stay and patient satisfaction. An electronic online ERAS scoreboard system was developed to closely monitor the compliance to the protocol and alert the ERAS team for about missed cases. It also equiped with audit function to provide the team day to day feedback on performance of the team.
Objectives :
To improve the compliance of colorectal surgery to the colorectal ERAS programme
To improve hospital stay of patient undergoing colorectal surgery
Methodology :
The Electronic online ERAS scoreboard system was implemented in late November, 2019. All the patients included in colorectal surgery ERAS programme in pre- implementation (Jun-Sept 2019) and post- implementation (Dec 2019) are included and studied. (1)The compliance of 10 keys ERAS elements and (2) mean & median day of hospital stays are compared.
Result & Outcome :
The mean lenght of stay reduce from 12.5 day to 5.3 days. The median lenght of stay reduce from 10.5 day to 5 days. The compliance to resume diet within 24 hours post operation increase from 65% to 92% (p< 0.05) and trial off of IVF increased to 58% (t< 0.05). Conclusion The use of electronic online ERAS socreboard associated with higher compliance to ERAS protocol and resulted in better patient outcome and hospital stay.
