Dr Wai-Kit Ma is Consultant Urologist and Team Head at the Department of Surgery, Princess Margaret Hospital, Hong Kong. He is also Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong. He graduated at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2003 and obtained his fellowship in Urology, FRCSEd(Urol), in 2011. He has been trained as the da Vinci Robot Console Surgeon since 2009. He was granted Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2019. His clinical interests include uro-oncology, prostate cancer, robotic and minimally invasive urological surgery, paediatric urology, and adult and paediatric renal transplantation. His current appointments include National Society Deputy Delegate in Société Internaionale d’Urologie (SIU); Elected Council member, Urological Association of Asia (UAA); Honorary Secretary, the Greater Bay Area Urologist Alliance, China; Co-opt Council Member, Hong Kong Urological Association (HKUA). Dr Ma is an active clinician, administrator as well as academic researcher. He is author of 3 book chapters, 2 review articles, 29 original articles, and 81 abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. He has delivered >60 lectures and talks in scientific conferences and public ceremonies. He was selected as the Youth Section Fellow of the Urological Association of Asia (UAA) in 2012. He has played a leading role in introducing the magnetic resonance imaging-ultrasound fusion targeted prostate biopsy in Hong Kong, and was the first urologist to perform the procedure in transrectal (in 2015) and tranperineal (in 2018) approaches. He was also one of the pioneers in investigating the devastating effects of ketamine abuse on the bladder and urinary tract function.
