Professor Gilberto K. K. Leung is a neurosurgeon, Clinical Professor, and the holder of the endowed Tsang Wing-Hing Professorship in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He graduated from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London, with MBBS and an Intercalated BSc in Physical Anthropology from University College London in 1992. During training, he received the Hallett Gold Medal and the J. Douglas Miller Medal in Neurosurgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of London and that of Edinburgh, respectively. He joined HKU in 2005 where he obtained a MS and a PhD. He holds a LLM in Medical Law and Ethics with Distinction and the McLagan Prize for Best Graduate from the University of Edinburgh. He is currently the President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, and the Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) of his HKU Faculty. He works as an Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. His clinical and research interests include endoscopic skull base surgery, neuro-oncology, neuroprotection, as well as medical education, law and ethics. He has authored/co-authored 178 peer-reviewed journal articles, 11 book chapters, 2 monographs, 127 conference papers, 68 other publications, and delivered 122 invited lectures.
