Following with digital transformation of the healthcare industry, healthcare organisations are changing the way of serving patients via adopting advanced digital technologies including Artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT), while they also become an attractive target for cyberattacks. This has forced healthcare organisations to take a fresh look at their cybersecurity threats and risks.
In this session, we will discuss the emerging key threats and challenges in healthcare, understand who is after us, and suggest a practical approach in developing a proactive cybersecurity strategy. We will also come to the weakest link cybersecurity - human and suggest effective ways to improve organisational cyber awareness and culture.

Ransomware and data breaches are increasingly representing the highest cyber threats facing healthcare companies. 


In 2020, PwC Hong Kong tracked multiple cyber incidents involving healthcare organizations where victims’ data was spilled online or the operations ground to a halt due to human-operated ransomware. The abundance of sensitive patient data healthcare organizations is storing, and their perceived level of cyber security maturity, makes them a likely target for political and financial motivated cyber threat actors alike. 


In this talk, Mr. Kok Tin Gan will explore some of the most prominent cyber incidents involving health care organizations that PwC Hong Kong has tracked over the last 12 months. With the cyber incidents summary and live hacking demonstration, audience will get to know more about the latest hacking trends and related cyber threats, and also the key lessons that organizations in the sector should learn in order to increase their cyber security resilience.
